Philosophy

Learning theory is not an attempt to fill your head full of useless knowledge or to alter your perception of music but to provide your mind with the tools it needs to get the music out of your head so other people can hear it.

If you do not learn the basic theory you run the risk of altering what you are hearing in your head before it gets out. Some music is lost forever by musicians "figuring it out" on the keyboard. Once you hit one wrong note or come onto a phrase that sounds good, the music in you head is lost

When you can quickly transfer your thoughts to paper, you can then be sure that you are capturing the true music inside of you. Your mind already knows what it wants to hear ... it just needs to know how to communicate it to you.
